May Council Update — ACCESS – BTTBU(tm) — Suppliers of the Year!

ACCESS 2017 Business Expo is over, and the State of Texas HUB Coordinators awarded more than $3.7 million in the day and a half event to HUB suppliers! If you missed all the excitement and possibilities at ACCESS 2017, you can check out the experiences by visiting the Council’s website at dfwmsdc.com. There are videos from the Media Lounge, on the Expo floor and the FIVE WORD CHALLENGE! Thank you to all that attended and sponsored this amazing connection event — the largest and most diverse expo in North Texas!

CONGRATULATIONS to our BUY THOSE THAT BUY US(TM) Honorees. We had 33 Buying Entities participate in our BTTBU(TM) initiative. Visit our website to learn more about what this initiative is all about. We are celebrating 10 years of encouraging people to spend their dollars with those that committed to minority-business inclusion.

Meet our four E Awards Suppliers of the Year. The website has videos and interviews highlighting these fantastic MBEs and their companies. Find out more about them and the products/services they provide.

Finally, check out the upcoming events happening at the Council. We are all about MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS … IMPACTFUL GROWTH!

Let’s Talk Business

Council stakeholders are all about business. Whether you are a buying entity (corporate or public sector agency) or minority-owned business, you want to improve and increase your business. As a third party organization, D/FW MSDC wants to help you achieve your objective. That is why our emphasis as an organization is on several key strategic initiatives:

  1. Increase MBE Business Opportunities
  2. Build MBE Capacity through tiered programming tools and training
  3. Increase access to quality (capable) suppliers who meet sourcing needs
  4. Continue to improve Supplier Diversity Programs focused on minority suppliers
  5. Promote collaboration.  utilization and recognition of Board Members’ subject matter expertise

In 2017 we are working in these areas to make the Council a stronger partner for all of its stakeholders. If you are interested in helping us move the needle in these areas of concentration, please contact us at the Council offices. We have working groups established and each would love to have more volunteers and a variety of lenses helping to craft our direction and deliverables.

First Coffee with the President Huge Success!

Fifteen MBEs joined in the initial Coffee with the President experience.  Attendees included construction firms, IT and System Development firms, Staffing industry, real estate development, AV/video production, marketing and technology.  Attendees had a chance to hear about some activities happening at the Council that could help their businesses, as well as voice areas of concern for opportunities and supply chain practices. Several were looking for better ways to connect and found potential mentors and support from fellow MBEs in attendance.

Plan to join the President on March 31 at 10:00 am in the Council Offices for the next installment of Coffee with the President. It’s a great conversation. Please join us!

Join Us for Coffee & Conversation

Coffee with the President – February 24, 2017  – 10:30 am – Council Offices

Join me at the Council’s office the fourth Friday of every month for coffee and conversation. This is an informal session designed to let me know more about you, your business, and service needs, as well as learn more about how the Council may be of value to you.  Buying Entity representatives and MBEs are welcome. We welcome your input on how we can make the Council work even better for you and your constituents!

Please mark your calendar for the first session on February 24th. I look forward to seeing you…

How About a Cup of Coffee?

Welcome to the first post on the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council blog!

I am Margo J. Posey, President of the Council. I want to make sure we connect more with you throughout the month about the various activities and opportunities occurring around the Council with its Buying Entity Partners and certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). We hope you stay in touch and provide us your feedback on how can assist you and make the Council work better for you and your business. After all, we are here to facilitate meaningful connections in order to create impactful growth.

Welcome to Coffee with the President!
